December 19, 2025: Free Tools I Use as a Financial Planner
There are many helpful financial tools I use that are free and publicly available. Use these tools responsibly - the best strategy when you have questions about your personal finances is to refer to your financial plan!
In no particular order:
CME FedWatch: Tracks the probability of future rate cuts by the Federal Reserve. (https://www.cmegroup.com/markets/interest-rates/cme-fedwatch-tool.html)
Truflation: The Truflation US Inflation Index attempts to track inflation in real-time. (https://truflation.com/marketplace/us-inflation-rate)
US Treasury Yield Curve: Visualize the US Treasury yield curve on a given date compared to the Fed Funds Rate target range. (https://www.ustreasuryyieldcurve.com/)
Solo 401(k) Contribution Calculator: Calculates the maximum contribution to solo 401(k), SEP IRA, and SIMPLE IRA. This is especially helpful for self-employed workers. (https://www.mysolo401k.net/solo-401k/solo-401k-annual-contribution-calculator/)
Schwab RMD Calculator: Calculates the required minimum distribution (RMD) from an IRA or 401(k). Use this very carefully as certain circumstances can change how much your RMD is each year. (https://www.schwab.com/ira/ira-calculators/rmd)
College for Financial Planning Annual Limits: This is for 2025 so it will be outdated shortly, but they come out with a new file each year. This is great to see various contribution limits, phaseouts, tax numbers, etc. each year.
